We receive a lot of questions like „What is enamelware?” „How it is produced?” „What it is made of?” We are going to answer them with great pleasure. We have produced enamelware since 2014 year and would like to share some of our knowledge with you all!
What is enamel?
Enamel is a material produced by fusing powdered glass to a substrate. It is fired along with additive pigments. Covering the steel elements with enamel protects the base material from rust, gives the ware a pleasing aesthetic.
How is enamelware produced?
The first step of production is metalworking. Firstly, the sheet metal is cut into separate rings, it is then pressed at high pressure to form the body of the dish we are producing. The parts of metal such as the handles or rims are then taken and welded together to complete the metal form.
The second step is covering the steel with enamel. This stage includes: grounding. It is when the material is coated with a ground coat to prepare it for the outer layer. If it looks good and passes this stage, it can then be fired at very high temperatures. After that we move on to the next stage – enameling. In this part selected colors are applied to the dish – firstly, the internal color and after drying, external color. This part includes enamelling the rim and handles with strong enamel – specifically made enamel, which protects the parts of enamelware and must be especially durable.
The third part is decorating. This is our favourite stage because the designs of our customer come to life. We are always excited about their ideas and always waiting for the final effect. But the decoration of enamelware is also a lengthy process. At first the ceramic decal has to be applied. Then it has to be dried and fired again at very high temperatures.
